Two TIVAR® Materials 3A-Dairy Certified

Poly Hi Solidur, Inc., announced receipt of 3A-Dairy certification for TIVAR® CleanStat® and TIVAR® H.O.T. (Higher Operating Temperature). The two materials join Poly Hi Solidur’s TIVAR® 1000 as the polymers of choice for unit material handling and bulk material handling applica-tions in the food processing and packaging industries.

TIVAR H.O.T., is a proprietary polymeric formulation designed to excel in a variety of industrial manufacturing environments where temperatures range up to 275°F, nearly 100°F higher than standard UHMW-PE formulations. TIVAR H.O.T. has been FDA and USDA compliant since its introduction into the marketplace in 2001.

Static resistant TIVAR CleanStat, also FDA/USDA-compliant with a lower coefficient of friction than stainless steel and aluminum, ensures sticky food materials such as nuts and raisins flow freely and predictably along the ultra-slick surface.

According to Ron Denoo, Product and Market Development Manager, achieving 3A-Dairy certification was a natural next step for both materials. “TIVAR H.O.T. and TIVAR CleanStat are already being used successfully in food processing/packaging applications that are frequently exposed to chemical washdowns,” Denoo explained. “They have now been tested specifically with chemicals representative of dairy cleaning compounds and been certified for use in dairy equipment under Standard 20-21.”

“For instance, TIVAR CleanStat can now be used in during the final processing stages of parmesan cheese production when the cheese moves through gravity metal detection equipment on its way into packages,” he continued. “For this equipment to work correctly, the material has to move smoothly and consistently through the tubes without creating static that would disrupt the metal detection. TIVAR CleanStat fits the bill perfectly.”
