Thermoformable PA6
ENSINGER/PennFibre has broadened their thermoformable
nylon offerings with the addition of PENNITE
® 4512. The material is a Type 6 nylon with 12%
glass fiber reinforcement, it is thermally and impact modified
and black pigmented for service applications.
PENNITE 4512 offers an excellent balance of engineering
properties combined with a superior melt strength ideally
suited to engineered thermoforming products. It
exhibits improved strength, stiffness and creep resistance
compared to other nylons used in thermoforming and fabrication.
The material provides outstanding permeability
and chemical resistance to oils, hydrocarbons and most
solvents. It is designed as a cost effective thermoplastic
for metal replacement and is ideal for automotive applications
such as air ducts, radiator shrouds, fuel cells, covers,
structural components and reservoirs.
ENSINGER/PennFibre became the global leader in thermoformable
nylons with the introduction of Pennite®
4508 early last year. PENNITE 4512 is a higher performance
formula with enhanced heat deflection temperature,
greater elongation, tensile and flexural strength than the
4508 formula. It was developed to meet the increasing
demand for even higher performance characteristics for
formable nylons as their usage continues to grow in more
demanding applications.
As with their other products, PENNITE 4512 is available
in both sheet and roll form from .010” (0.25mm) to .250”
(6.35mm) thick in standard and custom widths up to 50”
(1250mm). Standard sizes are available from stock with
no or very low minimums required.
