Nested Based CNC Router

MultiCam announced its new 3000 Series nestedbased CNC router. The machine features a heavy, tubular steel welded frame, 25 mm linear bearings and custom engineered steel castings supporting the gantry. Table sizes are available up to 60” x 240”. An 11 hp automatic tool change and 100% duty-cycle spindle is standard along with an optional 4-spindle, 32mm drill bank. All 3000 series machines feature a high-speed, simultaneous, 3-axis motion control system and MultiCam’s easy-to- use, hand-held operator interface. They are fully compatible with any of the popular cabinet software packages.

Automatic Dull Tool Detection

MultiCam also introduced Automatic Dull Tool Detection capabilities to its line of routers. This one-of-a-kind innovation allows the user to optimize tool life and take the guesswork out of when it’s time to change a dull cutting tool.

After setting the normal current draw at the time a new tool is calibrated, the user can then set a high current limit. Once the high current limit has been reached and maintained for a continuous period of time, the machine will pause and prompt the user to change the tool.

If the user wishes to complete the job before changing the tool, they can opt to adjust the maximum current draw level, adjust the time or disable the feature altogether. However, if the user chooses to take immediate action and change the tool before completion of a job, they do not need to worry that their work up to that point has to be scrapped and started again from scratch. After changing tools and recalibrating, the user can “Prox Restart” the job. When using this feature, the machine can easily maneuver back to the point where the job was paused and resume working.
