Largest UHMW/PE Tube
The Spiratex Company boasts another first with the successful
extrusion of a 12”o.d. x 6.5” i.d. UHMW/PE
tube. They were the first to extrude a UHMW/PE profile in
the early 60s and have now manufactured the largest tube
available in UHMW/PE.
The idea to extrude the large tube came from a food processing
company who had been machining a tube from
UHMW/PE rod. The problem was that they couldn’t get the
length they desired and were forced to bond two tubes
together. This created a seam which caused mechanical
problems. Spiratex met the challenge and was able to
extrude a smoother, higher quality tube in the exact length
needed that eliminated several secondary operations.
Over the 50 years that they have been in business,
Spiratex has solved many problems in many industries.
Although they have built their reputation on custom work,
they also have a full line of standard parts available.
