Largest UHMW/PE Tube

The Spiratex Company boasts another first with the successful extrusion of a 12”o.d. x 6.5” i.d. UHMW/PE tube. They were the first to extrude a UHMW/PE profile in the early 60s and have now manufactured the largest tube available in UHMW/PE.

The idea to extrude the large tube came from a food processing company who had been machining a tube from UHMW/PE rod. The problem was that they couldn’t get the length they desired and were forced to bond two tubes together. This created a seam which caused mechanical problems. Spiratex met the challenge and was able to extrude a smoother, higher quality tube in the exact length needed that eliminated several secondary operations.
