The Future of Bioplastics

The world's first manufacturer of semi-finished bioplastics products will host the 1st GEHR Bio-Workshop, June 13, 2008 in Mannheim, Germany.

Speakers from renowned raw materials producers (BASF, Arkema, NatureWorks) and research institutes (Fraunhofer Institute, Wageningen University) will be talking about The future of industrial semi-finished products made from bioplastics."

GEHR Plastics, which is one of the world's leading manufacturers of thermoplastic semi-finished products, presented possibly the first extruded rods and sheets made from bioplastic at the 2007 “K” Plastics Trade Fair.

ECOGEHR PLA-L is a biodegradable and CO2-neutral combustible material made from the renewable raw materials Polylactide (PLA=polylactic acid) and Lignine (L=wood).

The company now emphasizes its green competence by expanding its bioplastics range, including renewable plastics based on castor oil (ECOGEHR PA 6.10 and ECOGEHR PA 11) or materials with wood or bamboo fiber fillings.

The 1st GEHR Bio-Workshop is aimed primarily at technicians and engineers, but is also a pioneering event for decision-makers from the commercial sector.
