Commemorating 75 years of Plexiglas® Acrylic Innovation
Plexiglas® acrylic innovation has inspired designers and
engineers in developing everything from automobiles
and airplanes to office buildings and consumer goods
since 1933. In commemoration of the 75th anniversary of
this premium brand of acrylic, Jack Reilly, R&D Manager,
and Gary Hall, Senior Staff Technician, of Altuglas
International recently presented this icon, “Plexiglas® King
of G Cell Cast Acrylic
Sheet,” to Patrick Shea,
Senior Archivist, of the
Chemical Heritage Foundation.
The icon, developed
to promote Plexiglas® G cell cast acrylic
sheet at a national sign
industry exposition in
1970, will now be permanently
housed at CHF
headquarters in Philadelphia, which is adjacent to
Independence National Historic Park. Scheduled to open
this fall, a new museum at CHF will maintain a world-class
collection of materials that document the history and heritage
of the chemical sciences and technologies.
