Aircraft Braking Systems
Norplex-Micarta, the leading manufacturer of high performance
thermoset composites, announced its NP515LS material
has been selected for use in
braking systems by major airline
manufacturers. The material has
excellent thermal properties and
a low degree of shrinkage, making
it ideal for high-impact, highheat
environments. As a result of
a qualification process by a
major supplier, many of the
worlds aircraft manufacturers
will now use it as a thermal insulator
between components in their braking systems.
NP515LS combines a woven glass fabric with a phenolic
resin system to form a high-strength, high-temperature
thermal insulator between dissimilar components that
expand and contract at different rates under varying
degrees of heat and pressure.
