Laminating Adhesive

3M™ introduces their Laminating Adhesive 360, for fast, secure assembly of a wide range of HSE and LSE materials including glass, ABS and difficult-to-bond PP, HDPE, LDPE, nylon and powder-coated or UV painted surfaces.

3M Laminating Adhesive 360 is available in a thin 2- mil or 5-mil transfer tape and 2-mil or 4-mil double-coated tape for a low profile bond line and a smooth appearance. The conformable adhesive provides shear and peel strengths that are equal to or greater than many thicker tapes, enabling secure attachment of the many new thinner and lighter-weight products being designed by OEMs today.

The low-odor adhesive offers resistance to high heat and humidity as well as solvents and other harsh environments. Parts are bonded quickly and easily with more strength and less adhesive when compared to competitive products.

The technology behind 3M Laminating Adhesive 360 offers converters increased productivity with fewer time-wasting production issues. Users experience little or no oozing, helping die-cut pieces retain their clean edge, and virtually eliminating adhesive residue on cutting blades, liner backing and/or die-cut part surfaces, while removing concern for adhesive "picking" during unwind.

Miniature Bearing Router Bits

Amana Tool, manufacturers of industrial-quality carbide-tipped, solid carbide and replacement carbide cutting tools, announced the launch of a series of miniature bearing router bits. Each Amana Tool exclusive bit features a 3/16” diameter ball bearing guide that is much smaller than other ball bearing router bits on the market, making the bits ideal for delicate projects such as signmaking, building musical instruments, routing letter edges, flush trimming tight corners and high production projects.

The miniature bearing router bits can be used on wood and plastics and come in a variety of profiles including round over, chamfer, flush, bevel trim and rabbet.

Amana Tool’s miniature bearing router bits are uniquely designed with a ball bearing at the bottom end of the bit, eliminating burnout caused by brass pin-piloted bits. The cutting edge of each router bit is engineered from an Amana-exclusive carbide grade, designed to deliver the highest quality of cut, maximum cutting efficiency and prolonged tool life. The bits can fit into tight spaces and sharp corners where a larger diameter bearing cannot, making it easier for users to work on finely detailed work pieces that have intricate contours, tight confines and narrow openings. The series’ innovative design also delivers a consistent edge that eliminates hand sanding or filing, thus saving users time and labor.

Online Shop for Designers And Decision-Makers

Evonik Cyro LLC introduced the ACRYLITE® Online Shop (www.acrylite-shop.com), a new online platform for fast and easy cut-to-size prototyping samples and small-quantity customer orders. Acrylics designers, architects, product- engineers and distributors will be able to view and order products in three categories: sheet, cements and acrylic cleaners.

“By taking this service online, we do not only meet increasing inquiries we receive daily on our 800 line, but also can offer 24/7 availability, shorter lead times and the possibility for commercial customers to order their own samples and have them shipped directly to their customers. Ordering online will, in addition, help reduce cutting and waste in-house,” said Steffen Schueller, Marketing Manager, Sheet Products at Evonik CYRO.

Users will be able to browse through products in the ACRYLITE catalog of sheet products, as well as ACRIFIX cements and cleaners. All products have detailed information including application images, price, colors and specifications. Once a product has been selected, cutto- size samples from as little as 1’ x1’ and up can be ordered. Once the order is placed in the Shopping Cart and the user is ready to check out, they can review their order and select their shipping preference. This provides an easy and fast way to get a piece of specialty acrylic in exactly the size that a customer requires.

Evonik CYRO plans to enlarge the variety of specialty sheet as well as adding other products like ACRYLITE® Rods & Tubes or sample boxes to the product offering of the shop, as this is what their main target groups of decision makers requests all the time.

High Performance Sign System

Thermwood has introduced a revolutionary new CNC router system, the SR43, for the sign and P.O.P. industries. This high performance CNC router is built in the USA and utilizes a new, highly efficient manufacturing approach which results in a superior structure coupled with enhanced use of materials, all at a dramatically lower price. The new machine features a 61” x 121” fixed table, a 10 hp HSD spindle and an eleven position automatic tool changer. It features high acceleration and high performance motions in both positioning and cutting. This new system includes full stress relieved weldments, high-end Siemens drives throughout, THK rails and three-dimensional volumetric position compensation.

The system also includes Thermwood’s Gen2 SuperControl which sharply distinguishes it from every other machine in this class including the standard in vision software: “i-cut Vision” offers the power of proven full non-linear distortion correction, a simple, intuitive user interface and full prepress and RIP integration. Jobs are quickly prepared and sent to the SR43 without error or miscalculation. And with the many i-script compatible RIP’s only i-cut integrates finishing from the design, printing and cutting steps.

The SR43 is capable of machining flat and 3 dimensional signs using wood, aluminum, plastics, composites and other various types of materials.

Thermwood’s SR43 with “QuickCut” technology offers a revolutionary new approach for nested based applications. Just select and resize cabinets and closet components, then make them, right at the machine. The SR43 also communicates with all major design software packages at the “Job Level.” This means the software sends the control a description of what to make and the machine control does everything else automatically.
