NEW POLYMER PLANT
The official groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the 30,000 ton/year plant for Topas(r), Ticona's cycloolefin copolymer (COC) was held at their Ruhrchemie plant. This is the first commercial plant for this new class of polymers and should start up by mid-2000. Topas(r) is a group of recently developed cycloolefine copolymers that exhibit unique property combinations such as optical clarity, excellent dielectric properties, biocompatibility, high water vapor resistance and good temperature stability.
