Innovation
This has been an exciting year. We continue to see groundbreaking innovations in materials and machinery, and we have been honored to bring them to you. We have some new ideas for 2023 and we are always looking for your feedback. If you have suggestions, we would like to hear from you. Email us at pdfm@plasticsmag.com. We look forward to hearing from you and continuing to keep you current and competitive in all aspects of the plastic shapes industry.

First up is an eye-catching case study of the Miami Museum Garage located in the Miami Design District. Nicolas Buffe, a French born artist, designed intricate 2D and 3D elements crafted from laser-cut metals and fiber resin plastic depicting elephants, gargoyles and caryatids, and stone carvings of draped figures used as pillars for Greek Revival buildings. Four 23-foot-tall sculptures stand at the entrance and exit of the garage. The black and white illustrations and parking sign are made with King ColorCore® polymer sheets.

Then turn to our Sign & P.O.P. Spotlight. With online retailers taking more and more of the re¬tail pie away from brick-and-mortar stores, your customers are looking for more creative ways to showcase their products. Our spotlight highlights some innovative materials, machinery, tooling and components to help you fabricate durable, high impact signs and displays.

Next up, our Welding Spotlight features a wide range of joining and fabricating equipment to meet all of your plastic welding and repair needs. From butt welding to pipe fusion equipment, to tools that are smaller, lighter and easier to use, and extruders that offer high output, we have got it all.

Finally, in Safety Solutions, Jack asks “Have We Learned Anything About Safety Over the Last Fifty Years?” Failure to follow proper lockout & tagout procedures and training, and lack of machine safeguarding always makes OSHA’s Annual Top 10 Frequently Cited Standards list. This month Jack reviews a couple examples of accidents that could have been prevented. As a reader of PD&F Magazine he is available for an initial consultation of your facility and can be reached via email at jpodojil@podojilconsulting.com. Whether it’s to discuss your safety program or a wide range of topics, he has over 45 years of experience in industrial safety.

We would like to thank all of our readers, advertisers and contributors for their support this year. We hope your sights are set high for 2023 and that the disruption of these past two years fades quickly. All of us at PD&F Magazine wish you happy holidays and a safe and healthy new year.
