PPFA Launches Thermoplastic Industrial Pipe Group
The Plastic Pipe and Fittings Association (PPFA) is launching a Thermoplastic Industrial Pipe Product Line Committee comprised of manufacturers of thermoplastic industrial piping. The mission of the new committee will be to increase the market for industrial plastic piping systems.
The Thermoplastic Industrial Pipe Product Line Committee was established after careful consideration by the association and interested participants. Earlier this year, PPFA leadership facilitated a strategic planning session for thermoplastic industrial pipe manufacturers. At that time the group assembled considered the need for an organization of thermoplastic piping systems (TIPS) manufacturers and their answer was a resounding yes! The PPFA Fall Meeting provided an ideal opportunity to continue those discussions and finalize the committee.
TIPS participants define industrial piping systems as all piping systems except residential plumbing, commercial non-pressure plumbing, and irrigation.
David Chasis, NIBCO Inc., was elected chairman of the Thermoplastic Industrial Pipe Product Line Committee. Additional participants at the 2000 Fall Meeting were: Gary Dennis, ATOFINA; Jack McDonald, LASCO; Chuck Bush, Oatey, Co.; Steve Scaccia and Mark Palasini, Freedom Plastics, Inc.; Russ Rizzuto, IPS Corporation; John Matta and Dennis Gunson, AT Plastics; Jay Brown, Charlotte Pipe and Foundry Co., Inc.; Ron Richards; Jim Kelley, Asahi America; Pete Walker; Bill Weaver, Harvel Plastics, Inc.; and Mike Barish, Borden Chemical & Plastics.
