High-Performance Masking for Lucite® Acrylic Sheet
For decades, distributors and and fabricators of acrylic products struggled with the limitations of the protective paper masking that was applied to acrylic sheet. They fought wrinkles, moisture damage, difficult removal and more. In response to these and other issues, Lucite Inter-national, Inc. has introduced high-performance Tuf-Guard™ masking for its Lucite® acrylic sheet. Lucite®CP acrylic sheet, featuring the versatile masking, is now available in a variety of sizes and thicknesses, with more sizes and product options to come in the future.

TufGuard masking offers the advantages of paper masking – excellent protection and a writeable surface –with none of the drawbacks. The product offers three very unique benefits: increased protection from damage during fabrication; the ability to peel and re-cling the masking as necessary; a much-increased shelf life due to its resistance to damage caused by moisture and temperature changes.

But the product’s versatility and added protection during the fabrication process may be its greatest benefit. Unlike paper masking, TufGuard allows the Lucite acrylic sheet to be heat bent while the masking remains on the sheet - protecting the sheet from accidental damage. In addition, TufGuard masking can be easily peeled off and re-adhered, providing greater flexibility.

"What all this means for fabricators who line bend ... or those that precision laser cut Lucite acrylic, is that the TufGuard-covered sheets are better protected throughout the entire production process.
