New Adhesion Primer For PP & PE
Permabond LLC introduced Permabond Polyolefin
Primer (POP), a clear, single component, air-drying
coating that enables difficult-to-stick-to plastics and rubbers
to be bonded with Permabond cyanoacrylate (Superglue) adhesives.
POP primer promotes adhesion to
low energy surfaces such as polypropylene, polyethylene,
PTFE and silicone. POP primer also behaves as an activator,
accelerating cure speed, thereby promoting production
efficiency. POP primer can be applied by brush, spray
or by dipping.
By using POP primer, flame or plasma pre-treatment of
plastics can be avoided prior to bonding with cyanoacry-late
adhesives.
For quality control of processed components, areas
coated with POP primer will fluoresce under low energy
UV light (375nm). This provides an easy means of checking
process quality. After treatment with POP primer,
Permabond cyanoacrylate adhesives can produce durable
bonds with strengths often exceeding those of the parent
materials.
