SIMONA AG, one of the
world’s leading manufacturers

extruded semi-finished
products, has expanded
operations and opened its
first facility in North
America. SIMONA AMERICA
Inc. is located in
Mountaintop, Pennsylvania,
and is expected to produce
over 30 million pounds of product each year. Simona
acquired the extrusion business unit from HPG
International, Inc. in January, 2004.
According to Walter W. Janshen, SIMONA AMERICA
Inc. President, the company plans to expand a line of
products marketed under the BRIGADE™ and VER-SUDUR®
brands, including a wide range of industrial
sheets, rods, tubes, fittings and welding rods. The new
company will also focus on expanding the range of product
versions tailored specifically to the requirements of the
semiconductor and chemical industry. In addition to engineered
flame retardant CPVCs and PVCs, SIMONA AMER-ICA
will also be supplying E-CTFE, PVDF and polypropylene
glass and polyester-backed sheets for lining and FRP
composite construction. The new product offerings are
made of the following polymers: - Type I and Type II
polyvinyl chloride (PVC)
- clear PVC and chlorinated
polyvinyl chloride (CPVC)
- homopolymer polypropylene
(PP) and copolymer polypropylene
- fire retardant
polypropylene (FRPP)
- polyvinylidene flouride
(PVDF)
- high density polyethylene (HDPE)
- ECTFE
- proprietary
foamed PVC marketed as Simocel and Simopor.
