Power Draw Bar Spindle
Accu-Router, Inc.
announced the introduction
of the new XR-15
power draw bar spindle
with a 63F HSK tooling
interface. This is the first
such spindle manufactured
in the U.S. in production.
HSK precision
tooling has become the standard in aerospace and other
high tolerance industries for machine tools with automatic
tool changers. The new XR-15 spindle at Accu-Router
will encompass several industry leading features designed
to support higher cutting rates, longer tool holder and
cutting tool life, and longer spindle life.
HSK is a German tooling interface designed to grip on
the inside of a “hollow shank” precision tool holder
instead of the outside of a tapered tool holder. Centrifugal
force thus helps to assure that tool holders will not slip or
turn as cutting rates or spindle speeds increase.
This new spindle will enter production at Accu-Router in
the second quarter of 2004. The rated speed range will
be 3,600 to 24,000 rpm. The higher speeds will support
much higher cutting rates in most materials.
As with all Accu-Router premium spindles, this HSK
spindle is liquid chilled, uses spray mist for bearing lubrication,
has a cast iron outer housing, includes several sen-sors
to help users avoid early failure and is supported by
Accu-Router directly, including with back-up loaner spindles
when service is required.
