Saint-Gobain Expands Production
Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics has announced that effective immediately it nearly tripled its production for Meldin® 7000 polyimide, at its Bristol, Rhode Island manufacturing facility. This high performance plastic, able to operate at temperatures beyond the reach of most polymers, is used extensively in industries as diverse as semiconductor, aerospace and even Formula-1. This material group offers some very unique properties, including very low outgassing in high vacuum environments, very high PV limits and excellent machining properties for conventional machining. Meldin 7000 is available in stock shapes (rods and sheets) and machined parts as well as “direct formed” parts, not requiring any additional machining.
